A caring commitment, in which affection and delight are shown to others, which is grounded in the nature of God himself.

In his words and actions, and supremely in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, God demonstrates the nature of love and defines the direction in which human love in all its forms should develop.

God’s love is the divine attribute that indicates God’s disposition to be self-giving and for the good of others.

The love of God is revealed in the cross of Jesus Christ (1 Jn 3:16)

Love is part of the Holy Spirit’s fruit (Gal 5:22)

God is the source of love.

His very character is love.

God’s love seeks reconciliation with all whom he loves.

God wills the good of his creatures from eternity past (through election) and into eternity future (the promised consummation of God’s work.

His love is perfectly expressed within the Trinity.
